Do SMART Homes Get More Money?

  Friday, Mar 18, 2022

Do SMART Homes get more money is not an easy question to answer.  It depends who you are asking.  What I believe is they certainly are more appealing and not only to younger buyers.

What is a SMART Home?

Having things in the home that can be controlled remotely is what qualifies a home as a SMART home.

Some examples are:

Heating, Lighting, Locks, Security cameras are examples of things that can be tied into technology that can help make you more comfortable,  more efficient with your time and save you money and keep you safe.

"Smart" blinds or shades that can be operated at the touch of a button and even programmed.  Lights and off that come on when you enter and leave the room.  Programmable thermostats also offer great efficiency.

Some of the other technologies that can be operated in the home are things like AI voice command devices like Alexa that can also lights lights, play your requested music or read you a poem and provide weather reports to name just a few.  These are devices that can help with isolation as well.

Many tech savvy tools offer additional safety, for example security cameras connected to exterior doors where you can even view who is at your door when you are not home.  Remote locking in case you forgot to lock the door.

There are other efficiencies like automated sprinklers.

Perhaps some of these tools may even reduce your insurance costs.
